Creating a more inclusive Peel: 2025 Accessibility Status Report released
BRAMPTON, ON (Jul. 9, 2026) – Peel Region has released its 2025 Accessibility Status Report, outlining the organization’s ongoing efforts to identify, remove, and prevent barriers for people with disabilities across programs, services, facilities, and workplaces.
The report marks an important milestone year for accessibility in Ontario. In 2025, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) marked its target year for achieving a barrier-free Ontario. The year also marked the completion of Peel’s 2018–2025 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.
The 2025 report highlights achievements across the organization, including:
- Peel Region’s reaffirmed commitment to accessibility with a focus on equitable access to services, programs and facilities, emphasizing dignity, independence, and inclusion.
- Strengthened digital accessibility and successful compliance with provincial website accessibility requirements under AODA standards.
- Accessible service enhancements across health, social, and community services.
- Expanded accessibility and accommodation initiatives in Peel Living housing services.
- Accessibility upgrades to Council Chambers technology to support inclusive participation for in-person and virtual attendees.
- Continued improvements to TransHelp specialized transit services and customer experience.
The report also highlights Peel’s leadership in inclusive care and innovation. In 2025, all 5 of Peel’s Adult Day Services Centres earned Butterfly Approach™ accreditation, making Peel the first community-based program in Canada to receive this certification for dementia care.
Peel’s Virtual Adult Day Services program was recently nominated for a 2025 IPAC Award for Administrative Excellence in Innovation for its work reducing barriers and supporting seniors through accessible and inclusive virtual programming.
Peel Region’s 2026–2030 Municipal Accessibility Plan will further strengthen the integration of accessibility, equity, and inclusion across services and decision-making.

Accessibility is a cornerstone of inclusive, resilient communities where everyone can participate with dignity and independence. This report highlights Peel Region’s progress and reaffirms our commitment to continuing this important work.
