Paramedic transport update
Trillium Health Partners is building a new hospital next to the current Mississauga Hospital.
During construction, all in-patient services for women and children currently offered at the Mississauga Hospital will move to the Credit Valley Hospital. An in-patient service refers to care that requires you to stay at the hospital overnight or longer.
Services affected include:
- Gynecology
- Obstetrics (includes child birth)
- Pediatrics (children’s care)
What to expect when you call 911 as of October 8, 2025
If you are a woman in labour, a new mother (postpartum), or a newborn baby, and you meet certain criteria, paramedics will take you to the Credit Valley Hospital.
For everyone else:
- If you call 911 and need urgent medical care, paramedics will take you to the closest appropriate hospital. This could be the Mississauga Hospital.
- If you call 911 and do not need urgent medical care, paramedics will take you to the closest or most appropriate hospital.
Paramedics follow strict transport guidelines by the Ministry of Health and Sunnybrook Regional Base Hospital Group. These guidelines are based on the Prehospital Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS).
What to expect if you go to the hospital on your own
If your child needs emergency medical care, go to the closest hospital. This includes the Mississauga Hospital. Its Emergency Department will remain open to pregnant women and children.
