About hantavirus
Hantavirus is a rare illness. People usually get it from contact with infected rodents (such as mice) or their droppings, urine, or saliva.
It’s very rare for hantavirus to spread from person to person. Most cases are linked to contact with rodents, not other people.
Symptoms can include:
- Fever
- Tiredness
- Muscle aches
- Headache
- Cough or trouble breathing (in more serious cases)
