Peel Community Housing Development Program
The Peel Community Housing Development Program is a key action of the Peel Housing and Homelessness Plan. It supports the strategy to build more community housing.
This strategy includes a service level/target of 13 projects or 1,684 new units/beds over 10-years. Currently, 9 of the 13 projects have sufficient funding available through a combination of regional and CMHC funding.
The Peel Community Housing Development Program creates new shelters, transitional, community, and supportive housing on lands owned by Peel Region and Peel Housing Corporation (PHC). It is the vehicle through which funded projects within Peel’s Housing Master Plan are built and operationalized.
In 2019, Council approved Peel’s Housing Master Plan, one action under Pillar 2 of Peel's 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan. The Housing Master Plan identified 31 development opportunities on Peel Region and Peel Housing Corporation lands.
