    Mental health and addiction support

Free and confidential support is available to individuals accessing Ontario Works in Peel and clients in other Peel Region programs.

The intent of the Connection, Acceptance, Resource, Empowerment (CARE) Program is to increase capacity of community-based organizations to address mental health and well-being needs.

Services for individuals should include, but are not limited to:

    • Mental health or addiction counselling, as well as life skills programming to clients through either a direct referral or services offered in-house (either in the office or virtually).
    • Assistance with accessing and navigating professional supports to complete Ontario Disability Support (ODSP) applications, if deemed appropriate.
    • Harm reduction, health education and needle exchange.
    • Reducing stigma, increase access to care, improve equity in mental health and enabling early intervention among vulnerable populations.

Several community-based non-profit organizations offer free mental health and addiction support. You can call or email any of the agencies listed here if you’re an individual accessing Ontario Works in Peel or if you’re a client in other Region of Peel Human Services programs.

If you need help with transportation or child care costs, ask your Ontario Works Caseworker to request financial support.
