    5. About Peel Long Term Care

    A tradition of caring

Peel Long Term Care provides compassionate, loving and respectful care to individuals and their caregivers.

At Peel Region, our long-standing tradition of caring for adults with specialized needs spans over 100 years. We remain committed to providing compassionate and respectful care to individuals and their caregivers.

By cultivating an integrated, emotion-based care approach to our services, we work together with individuals and their caregivers to deliver care that meets each person’s unique needs.

    Vision

Individuals receive person-centred, innovative, integrated care and support, enhancing their quality of life.

    Mission

To provide compassionate, loving, respectful care that is equitable for the people we serve as their health needs change.

    Service goals

    • Deliver integrated care: We work collaboratively with people we support and health care partners to serve the community.
    • Deliver person-centred care: We provide individualized care that is guided by diversity, equity and inclusion.
    • Cultivate an engaged workplace culture: We acknowledge and support the importance of each other’s psychological health and well-being in our workplace.
    • Foster workforce enablement: We provide effective resources to empower staff and to adapt to the changing needs of the community.

    Our commitment to you

We are committed to providing person-centred care that prioritizes the health and well-being of our residents and clients. Each person in our care will be treated with kindness, dignity and respect as we work to improve their quality of life and promote independence.

We are also committed to providing a supportive, healthy environment for our employees and volunteers so they are fully engaged and can do their best work.

Peel Region Long Term Care centres comply with the Residents’ Bill of Rights, and applicable laws and does not discriminate, exclude, or treat people differently because of their race, colour, creed, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, or family status. All residents, visitors and staff are treated with dignity and respect. We promote and comply with the Residents’ Bill of Rights which can be found in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (s. 3) and is posted both in English and French in all our centres.

Support from the community, including the Peel Region Council, local organizations and our dedicated volunteers, is essential to the services we provide.

Our strong connection with Peel’s diverse community helps enrich our residents’ lives. For example, residents and families in our long-term care homes can look forward to community-led on-site activities, outings to restaurants and shopping centres and frequent visits from special guests and school groups.

As one of the most diverse regions in Canada, Peel Region is committed to delivering programs and services that are equitable, inclusive and reflective of the community.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity, each of our centres offer multi-faith spiritual services, social work services and a variety of multicultural meal options. Additionally, we use Cultural Interpretive Service in Peel and linguistics services to help communicate effectively with residents and their families, regardless of language or ability.

All of our centres adhere to the rules, regulations and policies set out by Ontario’s Ministry of Long-Term Care.

Peel Region is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an organization that helps Canadian health service organizations improve their quality of service and meet internationally recognized standards.

Peel Region is accountable to the public and reports directly to the Peel Region Council. We are willing and obliged to accept responsibility for our actions and, as a fully regulated municipality, provide full transparency of our care, costs and operations.
