    5. About Peel Long Term Care

    Peel Long Term Care

Since 2015, Peel Long Term Care has proudly held the designation of a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) through a formal partnership with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO). This recognition reflects Peel’s commitment to delivering evidence-based, people-centred care and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement across all five of the long-term care centres.

As a BPSO, Peel Long Term Care has embraced the opportunity to lead the way in implementing RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs)—rigorously developed, evidence-informed recommendations that enhance clinical practice and improve health outcomes.

    Our journey of excellence

Over the past 11 years, our dedicated nurses and interdisciplinary teams have worked collaboratively to implement and sustain 11 Best Practice Guidelines, including:

    • Assessment and Management of Pain
    • Assessment and Management of Pressure Injuries for the Interprofessional Team
    • Embracing Cultural Diversity in Health Care
    • Intra-professional Collaborative Practice Among Nursing Teams
    • Person- and Family-Centred Care
    • Preventing and Addressing Abuse and Neglect of Older Adults
    • Preventing Falls and Reducing Injury from Falls
    • Professionalism in Nursing
    • Risk Assessment and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers
    • Practice Education in Nursing
    • Promoting 2SLGBTQI+ Health Equity (currently being implemented in collaboration with our Social Work team)

    Driving innovation and quality care

Our teams are actively engaged in sustaining previously implemented guidelines while embracing new ones that address emerging needs in long-term care. This includes a strong focus on skin and wound care, falls prevention, and inclusive, equitable care for all residents. These efforts reflect our dedication to delivering person-centred care that honours individual needs and preferences.

A culture of learning and leadership

Peel Long Term Care is proud to be a leader in advancing nursing practice and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through expert mentorship, ongoing education, and a shared vision for excellence, we continue to cultivate a resilient and empowered workforce—one that is informed, supported, and passionate about delivering the best possible care.
