To reduce the risk of injury, it's important to properly dispose of drug use equipment. Always place sharps in a biohazard bin or puncture proof container such as a bleach container or pop bottle
Never:
- Flush needles and equipment down the toilet.
- Throw needles and equipment into sewers or garbage cans.
- Leave needles and equipment in a park, playground or other public area.
Biohazard bins and disposal of used needles, syringes and stems are provided through drop boxes in various locations. This allows for safe and anonymous disposal of used needles or syringes and drug use equipment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Clients do not need to use the clinic services to have access to the needle drop box. Signs on the outside of the buildings provide directions to the drop boxes. The drop box is like a mail slot.

Harm reduction is both practical strategies aimed at reducing the harms associated with drug and substance use, a movement for social justice, human rights, and respect for people who use drugs and substances.
Harm Reduction work is about equity, justice, and providing people with resources specific to individual needs without judgment, intimidation, or discrimination. Harm Reduction programs support people who use drugs and substances without requiring that they stop using.
If you have questions about the harm reduction program, safer piercings or tattoos, or you're a service provider and would like a presentation about our program email us.
