Project 25-2158 – September 16, 2026 update
Streets affected: Downtown Brampton area
Field investigation notice
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, Peel Region is undertaking the Downtown Brampton Water and Wastewater Servicing Environmental Assessment Study to help ensure water and sewage servicing capacity to support planned and future growth in Peel Region.
Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is generated when water used in our daily activities goes down a drain or toilet. As water use increases and our community continues to grow, ageing pipes must be upgraded and renewed to ensure reliable service for years to come.
Field investigation work
We will be in your neighbourhood conducting field investigations along the Orangeville-Brampton Railway corridor in the following locations:
- Along the Orangeville-Brampton Railway corridor from Rosedale Avenue West to Fletcher’s Creek Sanitary Sewer near Corby Crescent
- Duggan Park
- Ken Whillans Drive
- Central Public School Park
- Market Street
- Alexander Street
- Joseph Street
- Nelson Street from Elizabeth Street to McMurchy Avenue North
- Elizabeth Street from Railroad Street to Nelson Street
- Church Street East from Kenndy Road North to Main Street North
Work may also occur within 50 metres at all intersections along these locations. Refer to the attached map.
We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations. The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
We will take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
We expect these activities to happen between Fall 2026 and Fall 2027.
Consultant working hours
The work will be completed by multiple consultants under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws.
Traffic impacts
There may be minor traffic disruptions during these activities. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions.
