Project 24-2458 – July 7, 2025 update
Streets affected: Haig Boulevard at Lakeshore Road East.
Temporary road closure
Peel Region has been rehabilitating the sanitary sewer along Lakeshore Road East. This work is required to keep providing you with reliable wastewater service.
At this stage, a temporary road closure and lane reduction will be required to complete this work.
Traffic impacts
- Haig Boulevard. will be closed to all through traffic at the intersection of Lakeshore Road. This closure will take place from July 26, 2025, until July 27, 2025. A detour route will be clearly marked with signs. Please see the attached map for the detour route. Access to homes will be maintained from Atwater Avenue.
- Eastbound traffic on Lakeshore Road East. will be reduced to a single lane from Hydro Road to Orchard Road. This lane reduction will take place from July 21, 2025, until August 1, 2025. The bicycle pathway parallel to Lakeshore Road will be diverted onto the roadway, isolated from any motorists.
- Westbound traffic on Lakeshore Road East will be reduced to a single lane from Hydro Road to Orchard Road. This lane reduction will take place from July 26, 2025, until July 27, 2025.
- It will not be possible to turn left or right from Lakeshore Road East onto Haig Boulevard. Traffic on Haig Boulevard will be diverted to turn left or right at Atwater Avenue, as it will not be possible to drive straight through the intersection of Lakeshore Road East. Local traffic will be permitted to travel south of Atwater Avenue along Haig Boulevard.
During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers. The onsite contractor will guide emergency service vehicles through the closure.

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking through a construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes if possible.
