Project 24-2115
Streets affected: Stavebank Road South, Port Street East, Helene Street North, St. Lawrence Drive, Elmwood Avenue South
Advance notice of project and pre-design field investigation
Peel Region is investigating future improvement of the sanitary sewer system in your area. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet. As pipes age and our population grows, we need to repair and replace older sewers to keep providing high quality wastewater services to you.
Peel Region is planning to replace the sanitary sewers in your area as shown on the attached map.
Important note
This future construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way. The municipal right-of way includes the street and the land owned by your city between the street and your water service box (small, round metal valve in either your driveway or lawn). This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We therefore recommend delaying any major landscaping or driveway paving until after this construction has been completed.
Additionally, as we plan for future construction, we will be in your neighbourhood conducting field investigations along Stavebank Road South, Port Street East, Helene Street North, St. Lawrence Drive, and Elmwood Avenue South.
- We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags to mark the location of underground gas, hydro, and cable on roads, driveways, and lawns.
- We may drill holes to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations. These holes may be drilled in the road or the municipal right-of-way, the land owned by the municipality between the street and your water service box. (A water service box is a small, round metal valve in your driveway or lawn that typically marks your front property line.)
- We will take pictures and record video to help ensure that we restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
We expect these activities to take place between April 7th 2025 to May 30th 2025.

The work will be completed by WSP under contract to Peel Region. This consultant's normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality's bylaws.
