Noise attenuation wall replacements on Steeles Avenue West (Regional Road #15).

Project scope

Peel Region will be replacing noise attenuation walls on Steeles Avenue West in 2025. The detailed design is underway, and we are considering options to expedite this project.

The locations of the new noise attenuation walls, along Steeles Avenue West, are as follows:

Mclaughlin Road to Windmill Boulevard
680 metres west of Windmill Boulevard

Next steps

Construction is scheduled for Summer 2025 and will include the following:

Remove existing noise walls at the rear/side of the properties
Construct temporary fencing to isolate the construction area from the remainder of the yard to maintain the security and privacy of your yard
Construct the new noise wall
Perform restoration on public and private sides

Immediately prior to construction, you will receive an additional notification regarding the timing of the project.

Feedback results

This is the summary of the results received from the participants that provided feedback for the noise walls preference at Steeles Avenue West noise wall replacement Chinguacousy Road to McLaughlin Road:

Composite concrete: 86%
Cedar wood: 5%
Indifferent (fine with either option): 8%

Based on the feedback results, the majority of the participants prefer Composite Concrete noise walls.
