Project 23-2465
Streets affected: Spring Creek Trunk Sewer (Cloverdale Drive to Steeles Avenue East)
Advance notice
Peel Region will be working in your area within the next two years to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and associated maintenance holes (commonly called manholes), as shown on the attached map. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.
Important note
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way and within easements.
- The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
- An easement is where Peel Region has legal access to enter your property to maintain and improve Peel’s infrastructure.
Before construction begins
Before construction starts:
- We’ll use spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations.
- We’ll take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction.
We expect these activities to take place starting in summer 2025.
Temporary trail closures
Temporary closures may be required along Chinguacousy Trail because of construction. We will deliver more detailed information to your home or business closer to the proposed construction date.
Keeping you informed
We’re currently in the early planning stages, so we cannot give exact dates. As your city’s future planning activities may change, we may also update our plans to improve sanitary sewers. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start of construction.
