Project 23-2300 H – February 26, 2026 update
Street affected: Queen Street South
Peel Region will be working in your neighbourhood to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes). Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet, or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.
This construction work will take place on Queen Street South as shown on the attached map.
Construction schedule
Construction is expected to start March 16, 2026 and finish by March 27, 2026. These dates may change due to weather and other unexpected events
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by Capital Sewer Services Inc. under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your area.
Traffic
Traffic will be temporarily reduced to a single lane. Directional signage will be installed to guide motorists throughout the work area.
Queen Street South going northbound will be reduced to a single lane from Elizabeth Street to King Street East. These lane reductions will take place from March 16, 2026 until March 27, 2026.
Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.
During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. The onsite contractor will guide emergency service vehicles and school buses through the closure.
Odours
You may smell odours which will go away within a few hours. You can prevent or minimize this by pouring a bucket of water down the basement floor drain and running water in all sinks, showers, and tubs for a minute, either the evening before or day of the relining work. If this is not possible (for example, if it is currently covered by flooring), we strongly recommend making it accessible before construction begins to reduce odours.
Noise
Under the Town of Caledon Noise Bylaw, work is allowed to take place overnight (between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.) to reduce the impact of our work. It will take place on Queen Steet South from Elizabeth Street to King Street East.
We do not expect significant noise or vibrations above normal daytime construction levels during this time. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Visit work zone safety for more information.
