Project 23-2300 A – April 21, 2025
Street affected: Eastern Avenue
The Region of Peel will be working in your neighborhood to replace the aging sanitary sewers and maintenance holes (commonly referred to as manholes) along Kennedy Road South and Eastern Avenue. This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services.
Schedule for construction and repair work
Peel Region was planning to replace the sanitary sewer on your street earlier this year. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction has been postponed.
We expect to start work on or about April 23, 2025, to complete the following:
- Replace sanitary sewer on the street,
- Connect properties to the new sanitary sewer by replacing individual wastewater service pipes,
- Repair driveways, road, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where disturbed by the sanitary sewer replacement and associated works. This will include replacing the temporary asphalt repairs on driveways, curbs, sidewalks, and roads to complete the final restoration.
We plan to complete this work by the late summer of 2025. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines. This work will be under warranty for two years from the completion date.
Traffic impacts
At this stage in the project, a temporary road closure and lane reduction will be required to complete this work.
Eastern Avenue will be closed to all through traffic from Trueman Street to Kennedy Road. This temporary road closure is expected to occur from April 28, 2025, until June 27, 2025.
A detour route will be clearly marked with road signs. Residents who live on the street will have access to their homes. Access to businesses will be maintained. No through traffic will be allowed and there will be no on-street parking.
During this time, traffic will be directed by flag persons. Emergency service vehicles will be permitted to cross through the closure with guidance from the onsite contractor.
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.

Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality wastewater services. If you have any questions, please contact us.
