Construction work in your area
Peel Region will be replacing the watermain valve within the intersection of Derry Road East and Goreway Drive, as shown on the attached map. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your area. As pipes age, we need to replace them to provide you with high-quality water.
Construction schedule
Construction is planned to start Friday, June 5 and finish on Monday June 8, 2026. These dates may change due to weather and other unexpected events.
What to expect during construction
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Sam Rabito Construction Ltd. under contract to Peel Region. Due to the location of the work and associated traffic impacts, work will be completed over the weekend. Under the City of Mississauga Noise Bylaw 0360-1979, work is allowed to take place on Saturday between 7am and 7pm. In addition, a Noise Bylaw exemption has been obtained for the overnight period of 7pm on Sunday, June 7 to 6am on Monday, June 8.
Traffic Impacts
- Northbound Goreway Drive will be reduced to a single lane from Nashua Drive to Derry Road from Saturday, June 6 to Monday, June 8.
- Westbound Derry Road will be reduced to a single lane from Rexwood Road to Goreway Drive from Saturday, June 6 to Monday, June 8.
- Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.
Interrupting your water supply
Water interruptions are not expected to impact your area except for a select few businesses on Goreway Drive. If we need to shut off your water, we will contact you directly.
Vibrations, noise, and dust
You could feel slight vibrations and experience some minor noise and dust from construction work.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area.
