Project 22-4030
Streets affected: Airport Road, from Braydon Boulevard to Countryside Drive
Project updates
- Finalize detailed design: 2025.
- Utilities relocation: 2026 (anticipated).
- Construction: 2027 (anticipated).
Background
Peel Region is in the design stage for the widening of Airport Rd, from Braydon Boulevard to Countryside Drive. A component of the project scope includes rebuilding and relocating existing noise walls. There is no cost to you for this noise wall replacement and its future maintenance, as after conversion, these noise walls will become the Region’s responsibility.
Next steps
Several months before construction starts, the Region will send you a letter requesting your permission for the Region’s staff, consultants, and contractors to enter onto your property to perform the following activities during construction:
- Completely remove existing noise walls at the rear/side of your property.
- Construct temporary fencing to isolate the construction area from the remainder of the rear yard in order to maintain security and privacy of your backyard.
- Construct the new noise wall.
Immediately prior to construction, you will receive an additional notification regarding the timing of the project.
We need your input
Public consultation is important to the success of this project. We invite you to engage with us, discuss your concerns, and provide your feedback on the alternatives (concrete vs. wood) of the replacement noise walls material.
Please provide your feedback by April 30, 2025, by email or by phone at the contacts listed in the hand-delivered letter you received. The project team will review and consider the feedback received in selecting the noise wall replacement material. The Region will support the noise wall material option that is chosen by the majority of respondents above 50%. The results will be posted on webpage that was provided in the hand delivered mail.
