Project 22-2300 A2 and 20-2300 N – December 11, 2025 update
Streets affected: Cathedral Road, Staveley Crescent and Bartley Bull Parkway
Project update
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, Peel Region was replacing the sanitary sewer(s) along Cathedral Road, Staveley Crescent and Bartley Bull Parkway. This work is required to keep providing you with wastewater services.
At this time, we have:
- Partly replaced the sanitary sewers on Staveley Crescent, Bartley Bull Parkway and Cathedral Road.
- Partly connected properties to the new sanitary sewer on Staveley Crescent, Bartley Bull Parkway and Cathedral Road.
- Repaired / Temporarily repaired the driveways, road, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where affected by construction.
Schedule for remaining construction and repair work
Construction was paused due to freezing temperatures. We expect to start again in Spring 2026 to complete the following:
- Reline the sanitary sewer on Cathedral Road, Bartley Bull Parkway and Staveley Crescent.
- Replace the outstanding sanitary sewer on Cathedral Road.
- Connect properties to the new sanitary sewer on Cathedral Road.
- Repair driveways, road, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where affected by our construction.
We plan to finish in the middle of 2026. These dates may change due to weather and other unexpected events. All work is warrantied for two years from the completion date.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Nabolsy Contracting Inc. under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighborhood.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking will be reduced when we are working on your street.
Interrupting your water supply
We may need to temporarily shut off your water.
For residents:
- If we need to shut off your water for several hours, our goal is to let you know 48 hours (2 days) in advance. Sometimes, we must reduce this notice to 24 hours.
- If we need to shut off your water for a short time (less than one hour), we’ll knock on your door.
Waste collection
If you receive Peel waste collection, your garbage, recycling, and organics will be picked up on your regularly scheduled day. It’s the contractor’s responsibility to move these bins from the end of your driveway to a location where waste collection vehicles can pick them up. Please make sure your house number is marked on each bin, so they are returned to the right address.
Vibrations, noise, and dust
You could feel slight vibrations and experience some minor noise and dust from construction work.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Areas impacted
Installing sanitary sewers usually requires digging a trench within the municipal right-of-way. This includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. This trench might cause temporary damage to roads, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, lawns, and the bottom of driveways.
We may also repair or replace the municipal portion of the wastewater service pipe, the smaller underground pipe running from your home to Peel’s sanitary sewer system. This may require digging up either the lawn or driveway above this section of pipe and impacting an area of at least two square meters.
We recommend that you delay driveway paving or major landscaping projects until this work is completed. Any damage caused by our construction will be repaired.
In-ground sprinkler systems
Your front lawn may be affected, so we strongly recommend moving any sprinkler lines in the municipal right-of-way or next to the sidewalk. If you cannot move these sprinkler lines, send us your irrigation map or flag each sprinkler head within one meter of the sidewalk, curb, or driveway.
Driveway access
We’ll knock on your door if we have to block your driveway for a short time. If a trench blocks your driveway access, the contractor will provide metal road plates. We will work to ensure businesses can be accessed. Contact us if you have any access needs.
Repairing impacted areas
Once the new sanitary sewer is buried and work has been completed on all wastewater pipes, we’ll repair the road, curb, sidewalk, driveways, and lawns.
Repairs may be delayed due to seasonal weather conditions. For example:
- Paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water, or the temperature is below 3°C.
- Asphalt is not available in large volumes during the winter and usually becomes available in mid-May.
- Most sod farms have sod available beginning in late May. We replace sod until the middle of November, weather permitting, to let the roots grow. If we do not replace it by the middle of November, we’ll replace it the following spring.
Repairing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any damaged sod on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing driveways
- Asphalt driveways: If we need to cut a section of your driveway, it will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams. Peel cannot replace your entire driveway. If you would like to have the rest of your driveway paved, please contact the contractor, Nabolsy Contracting Inc at 647-395-0153. The contractor will then share contact information for the company hired to do the paving repairs. Remember this is your choice. If you decide to have your entire driveway repaved, this extra paving work is your responsibility and outside Peel Region jurisdiction.
- Interlock or concrete driveways: If we damage a portion of your driveway, our contractor will repair the damaged portion.
Optional protection plans
Homeowners may not know they are responsible for maintaining the water and wastewater pipes up to the property line. If a pipe breaks, it can cause unexpected and costly repairs. Peel has partnered with Service Line Warranties of Canada to offer homeowners optional, affordable protection plans. Visit plansforpeel.ca for more information.
