Streets affected: Hawthorne Valley Trail between Bristol Rd W and Fairwind Dr
Trail restoration
Peel Region has completed rehabilitating the sanitary sewers and maintenance holes along Bristol Rd W, Ceremonial Dr, Fairwind Dr, and the Hawthorne Valley trail, and will be returning to complete minor grading and trail repairs along Hawthorne Valley trail, as shown on the attached map.
Schedule for remaining construction and repair work
At this time, we have:
- Relined the sanitary sewer and maintenance holes on Hawthorne Valley Trail,
- Repaired, road, trail, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where affected by construction
The remaining trail restoration is planned to start Monday July 20, 2026, and finish by the end of August 2026. After seeding, we suggest staying on the asphalt paths until the grass is established.
What to expect during construction
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Insituform Technologies Ltd and supported by consultant Robinson Consultants Inc., both under contract to Peel Region. This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require this work to affect your neighbourhood over a longer period of time.
Temporary trail closures
The restoration work is occurring on Hawthorne Valley Trail, so daily temporary closures will be required from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. when equipment is present. Detour routes will be provided, as shown in the attached map.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking may be reduced when accessing the trails from Bristol Rd W and Ceremonial Dr.
Vibrations, noise, and dust
You could feel slight vibrations and experience some minor noise and dust from construction work.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Vist work zone safety for more information.
