Project 20-2443 - July 2, 2024 update
Streets affected: Old Carriage Road, Queensway West, Confederation Parkway, and Paisley Boulevard West (Mississauga)
Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes) along Old Carriage Road, Queensway West, Confederation Parkway, and Paisley Boulevard West as shown on the attached map. This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services.
The reason for this update is to highlight the anticipated completion date of Fall 2024 and updated lane reductions.
Construction schedule
Construction has begun and is now scheduled to be completed in Fall 2024. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines. Construction and repair work completed as part of this project is under warranty for two years from the completion date.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by Capital Sewer Services and supported by GEI Consultants Canada, both under contract to Peel Region. This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time.
The City of Mississauga, under the Noise Bylaw, is allowing lining work to be carried out by our contractor continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This work will be completed in sections along the project limits, and is expected to last three to four weeks in each location. Continuous work is required to complete the lining work, and will reduce the amount of time your area is under construction. During this time, we do not anticipate significant noise. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents by restricting the delivery and removal of materials to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Traffic impacts
This work will require traffic to be reduced to a single lane during construction. When we reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions. These lane closures will be on:
- Confederation Parkway (at various locations between Paisley Boulevard West and Queensway West)
- Queensway West (at various locations between Glengarry Road and Confederation Parkway)
- Old Carriage Road (at various locations between Dundas Street West and Queensway West)
- Paisley Boulevard West (at various locations between Floradale Drive and Confederation Parkway).
During this time, traffic will be directed by flag persons and police officers as necessary.
These lane closures will be required while we are relining the sanitary sewer on each street. We expect the lane reductions to occur for up to two months on each street.
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
