Project 19-2158 – June 30, 2026 update
Streets affected: Malta Avenue, pathway and easement
Notice of restoration
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, Peel Region will be completing final restoration activities following the installation of the sanitary sewer along the project corridor. Restoration work includes grading, seeding, sidewalk and curb reinstatement, multi-use path restoration, guiderail replacement, pavement markings, streetlight reinstatement, and removal of temporary construction fencing and signage.
Restoration schedule
Restoration work is expected to begin in early July, starting with the maintenance hole compounds near the baseball diamond and nearby areas. By mid to late July, restoration work will continue at:
- The multi-use path between Malta Avenue and the baseball diamond
- The Malta Avenue and Sir Lou Drive intersection
- The sidewalk and curb in front of Azores Park
- The curb and guiderail at Malta Avenue and Tina Court
We expect all work to be finished by September 2026, weather permitting.
What to Expect
- Work will begin with grading, seeding, and restoring access
- Crews will then restore the multi-use path and other affected areas
- Final work includes curbs, sidewalks, guiderails, pavement markings, and streetlighting
- Temporary fencing, signs, and traffic controls will be removed as work is completed
This work will take about 6 to 8 weeks.
Please note that repairs may be delayed due to contractor availability or weather conditions. For example, in summer, we may need to postpone sod replacement in the event of hot, dry weather.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Ward & Burke Microtunnelling Ltd. under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighborhood.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions.
During restoration work, you can expect the following:
- Work near the maintenance hole areas and the multi-use path will not create new impacts, as these areas are already closed. Construction vehicles will continue to use the multi-use path, so pedestrians near the Malta Avenue entrance should watch for construction traffic.
- At the Malta Avenue and Sir Lou Drive intersection, there may be occasional lane closures while pavement markings and streetlights are finished.
- In front of Azores Park, the sidewalk and curb will be closed for about two days. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the east side of Malta Avenue.
- At Malta Avenue and Tina Court, work will take place along the curb lane and is expected to have minimal impact on traffic.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Driveway access and parking
We may block your driveway for a short time for the movement of construction vehicles. Contact us if you have any access needs.
All other parking laws remain in place, including proper clearance from hydrants and stop signs.
Replacing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any sod damaged during construction on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing roads
We’ll repair areas of the road where it was affected by construction. This work will start around mid-July, weather permitting. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start date.
Warranty on construction repairs
All work is warrantied for two years from the completion date. It is normal for repaired areas to settle. Let us know if you notice large potholes forming in any of the repaired areas. Once the warranty period is over, Peel is no longer responsible for repairing these locations.
