Project 18-2441 – February 27, 2026 update
Street affected: Etobicoke Valley Dog Park
Temporary closure of Etobicoke Valley Dog Park
Peel Region has installed a new underground sanitary trunk sewer storage facility and retired an existing sanitary trunk sewer in your area as shown on the attached map. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet.
We will be returning to the site to complete required maintenance work on the new facility to ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably. Since this facility is located beneath the Etobicoke Valley Dog Park, the dog park and nearby trails will need to be temporarily closed while this work is completed. Where possible, we will work to avoid any future closures, however access to the site may be required from time to time for ongoing maintenance.
Construction schedule
This repair work will begin on March 16, 2026, and is expected to be completed in mid-April 2026.
What to expect during construction
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by EBC Inc. and supported by IBI Group, both under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your area. Under the City of Mississauga Noise Bylaw, work is allowed to take place over the weekend to reduce the impact of our work.
Closure of Etobicoke Valley Dog Park and associated trails
To keep pedestrians and pets safe, the Etobicoke Valley Dog Park and the trails leading to the dog park will be temporarily closed. Trail closure signs will be posted on site. Alternate dog park locations can be found by visiting the Mississauga Parks website.
Traffic and parking
We will manage traffic in the area to ensure the safety of workers, road users and residents.
- The Etobicoke Valley Dog Park’s parking lot will be closed.
- The south portion of Southcreek Road will be used for site access. There will be no on-street parking on Southcreek Road. Access to businesses will be maintained.
- Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Vibrations, noise, and dust
You could feel slight vibrations and experience some minor noise and dust from construction work.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Project background
To respond to climate change and meet the demands of a growing population, this new, state-of-the-art underground facility will store extra wastewater during large rain events. Refer to the Environmental Assessment for more information.
Project funding
The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) is a cost-shared infrastructure funding program between the Federal and Provincial governments and has committed $8 million of combined funding toward this Peel Region project.
