Project 18-2300 C - May 31, 2022 update
Streets affected: Fair Birch Drive and Birchview Drive, Mississauga
The Region of Peel has started working in your neighborhood to replace the aging sanitary sewer just north of Fair Birch Drive, along the Lornewood creek water course. This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services.
At this stage in the project, we need to set up a working compound to facilitate the construction of the replacement sewer by microtunneling on Fair Birch Drive. This working compound will be in place for the duration of the microtunneling work.
Traffic impacts – Temporary road closure
A temporary road closure and lane reduction will be required to complete this work.
Birchview Drive will be closed to all through traffic from Springhill Drive to Lorne Park Road.
- If you need access to Fair Birch Drive, you must access it through the south section of Birchview Drive via Lorne Park Road as there will be no access to Fair Birch Drive from the north section of Birchview Drive via Springhill Drive or Indian Road.
This temporary road closure is expected to occur from June 13, 2022, until May 2023. During this time, a detour route along Indian Road and Lorne Park Road will be clearly marked with road signs.
Please see the attached map for the detour route.
Residents who live on Birchview Drive will have access to their homes throughout the duration of the road closure.
Traffic impacts – Temporary lane reduction
A temporary lane reduction will also be in place on Fair Birch Drive as shown in the drawing below from June 13, 2022 to May 2023. Please note that this is a sketch and does not depict the complete traffic control set up. Residents driving through the construction area should abide by the posted traffic signs and drive with care.
These impacts may cause traffic delays. We ask for your patience and will try to minimize any delays as much as possible.

Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality wastewater services. If you have any questions, please contact us.
