Project 17-2280 - May 19, 2023 update
Streets affected: Nunnville Road.
The Region of Peel has been working in your area to install new sanitary sewers along Albion Vaughan Road, Nunnville Road, Old King Road, Queensgate Boulevard, Harvestview Avenue, Sant Farm Drive, and Riverwood Terrace. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet. As our population grows, we need to build new sewers to keep providing high quality wastewater services.
At this stage in the project, we will be starting to tunnel a new sewer along Nunnville Road. Construction activities will take place within the two tunnel access points that were previously dug along Nunnville Road.
Construction schedule
Below is the tentative schedule for construction work along Nunnville Road:
- We plan to tunnel the new sewer from mid-May to early autumn, 2023.
- We expect to install new sewer maintenance holes (commonly called manholes) from October to November 2023.
- We will fix any affected areas of the road, curb, sidewalk, driveways and boulevard from November to December 2023.
These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines.
Construction and repair work completed as part of this project is under warranty for two years from the completion date.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by Earth Boring Co. Limited and supported by Chisholm Fleming and Associates Consultants, both under contract to the Region of Peel. Our contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time.
Traffic impacts
Nunnville Road will continue to be reduced to a single shared lane at the tunnel access points. Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic as stated by the road signs.
On-street parking will be reduced during construction when we are actively working on your street.
Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
