Project 17-1370 A - June 9, 2025 update
Street affected: Mount Hope Road
Notice of restoration
Peel Region will be repairing driveways, roads, curbs, sidewalks, and sod (grass), following the replacement of the watermain along Mount Hope Road.
Restoration schedule
Asphalt Restoration work will start Wednesday June 11, 2025 on Mount Hope Road. We plan to complete all work by end of June 2025, weather permitting.
Restoration has begun by fixing curbs, this will be followed by driveway and road paving repairs, and finally seeding to restore any disturbed grass.
Please note that repairs may be delayed due to contractor availability or weather conditions.
For example:
- Paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water, or the temperature is below 3°C.
- In summer, we may need to postpone seeding due to hot, dry weather.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Nabolsy Contracting under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighborhood.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking will be reduced when we are working on your street.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Visit work zone safety for more information.
In-ground sprinkler systems
If the area in front of your home was affected by construction, in-ground sprinkler lines may be impacted during the upcoming restoration work. We strongly recommend moving any sprinkler lines in the municipal right-of-way or next to the sidewalk. The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
If you cannot move these sprinkler lines, send us your irrigation map or flag each sprinkler head within one meter of the sidewalk, curb, or driveway. This will allow us to minimize the impact to your sprinkler system.
Driveway access and parking
We may block your driveway for a short time to pave the road. We’ll ensure businesses can be accessed when possible. Contact us if you have any access needs.
Please avoid parking on your driveway when it is being repaired. We’ll knock on your door before driveway work begins. If you will not be home weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., do not leave any vehicles on the driveway. Avoid driving on new asphalt for the first three hours and parking on it for one day after paving.
Replacing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any damaged sod on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing driveways
Interlock or concrete driveways: If we damage a portion of your driveway, our contractor will repair the damaged portion.
Asphalt driveways: If we need to cut a section of your driveway, it will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams.
Peel cannot replace your entire driveway. If you would like to have the rest of your driveway paved, please contact the contractor, Nabolsy Contracting Inc., at 226-998-7416. The contractor will then share contact information for the company hired to do the paving repairs. Please remember this is your option. If you decide to have your entire driveway repaved, this extra paving work is your responsibility and outside the jurisdiction of Peel Region.
Repairing roads
We’ll pave the road where it was affected by construction. This work will start around June 11, weather permitting. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start date.
Warranty on construction repairs
All work is warrantied for two years from the completion date.
It is normal for repaired areas to settle. Let us know if you notice large potholes forming where the driveway, street, or lawn was repaired, and we’ll ensure these are fixed before the warranty period ends. Once the warranty period is over, Peel is no longer responsible for fixing potholes or dead sod in these locations.
