Project 14-1346 - December 25, 2023
Streets affected: Glen Erin Drive between Burnhamthorpe Road and Marshdale Court
Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to install watermains on Glen Erin Drive.
At this time, we have:
- Install the watermain on Glen Erin Drive,
- Connected properties to the new watermain(s) by replacing individual water service pipes/boxes on Glen Erin Drive,
- Temporarily repaired the driveways, road, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where disturbed by the watermain replacement work.
The remaining work has been put on hold due to the weather. We will shut down for the winter on January 22, 2024 until mid March 2024 weather dependent. We will leave the construction site in a safe condition for the rest of the winter.
Schedule for remaining construction and repair work
We expect to start work again mid March, 2024 to complete the following:
- Service connections and commissioning of the watermain located north of Hwy 403.
- Repairing / Completing the repair of driveways, road, curbs, sidewalk and sod (grass) where disturbed by the watermain installation work. This will include replacing the temporary asphalt repairs on driveways, curbs, sidewalks, and roads to complete the final restoration.
We plan to complete this work by the end of May 2024.
More details about restoration will be shared in a Spring Commencement Notice and Restoration Notice follow-up notice.
What to expect during construction
Learn what to expect when watermain construction resumes in the spring by visiting watermain construction and watching our short video. The video goes behind the scenes to show what happens during and after construction. This website also answers common questions about:
- Why your water may be temporarily shut off,
- How traffic, parking, and waste collection may be affected,
- How driveways, roads and sod (grass) are repaired after construction is finished.
Settlement of the ground
It is normal for repaired areas to settle a bit in the coming months. If you notice large potholes forming in the driveway, street, lawn or boulevard, please let us know and we will ensure the contractor fixes this.
Keeping you informed
We will let you know if there are any major changes to the plans.
