Project 14-1240 – July 2025
Construction in your area
We are:
- Installing new large-sized watermains
- Installing noise walls
- Improving the East Brampton Pumping Station located on Nanport Street
After that, we will:
- Widen Dixie Road (including adding new multi-use trails)

How you may be impacted by construction
- Expect traffic on Dixie Road due to lane closures around our shaft compounds. Please be patient and follow the traffic signs.
- Sidewalks on the west side of Dixie Road are either closed or will be closed during construction. Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk on the east side of Dixie Road or other signed walking detours. Bus stops may be closed or relocated where necessary. Information signage will be posted.
- Newcastle Park on Williams Parkway, the east part of Northampton Park adjacent to the East Brampton Pumping Station on Nanport Street, and the park at Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard are closed during construction.
- If you are a resident near the noise wall installation, you will have your existing fence removed to install the noise walls. You will be notified in advance of when this will happen at your property.
- The southeast entrance to Northampton Park from Northgate Boulevard remains closed due to construction at the pumping station.

Work completed so far
Traffic control, including temporary traffic lights, is in place for most watermain compounds.
- Excavation of all the underground tunnelling shaft compounds, except for Site 9 on Dixie Road south of Williams Parkway, which is still being excavated.
- The tunnel drive with the tunnel boring machine (shown in Figure 1) along Dixie Road from Clark Boulevard to south of Williams Parkway has begun and is approximately 20% complete (Site 6 to Site 9).
- The tunnel drive along Williams Parkway from Newcastle Park to Dixie Road has been completed (Site 14 to Site 9C). See Figure 1.
- Watermain pipe has been installed within the tunnel along Williams Parkway (Site 14 to Site 9).
- The first of two tunnel drives along Dixie Road from south of North Park to south of Williams Parkway (Site 10 to Site 9) has been completed.
- The noise walls on the west site between Hazelwood Drive and Williams Parkway are expected to be completed by September 2025.
Upcoming watermain work – what to expect

- The second of two tunnel drives along Dixie Road from south of North Park to south of Williams Parkway (Site 10 to Site 9) is expected to start in mid-July.
- Tunnelling is ongoing along Dixie Road from Clark Boulevard to south of Williams Parkway (Site 6 to Site 9).
- See the attached map for locations of construction compounds and lane closures.
Upcoming noise wall work – what to expect
- Initially, you will see the noise wall contractor starting from North Park Drive to Bovaird Drive with:
- Clearing and removing unnecessary vegetation and debris.
- Tree pruning and removal.
- This will be followed by:
- Removing and disposing of the existing wood and chain link fences.
- Installing temporary fencing.
- Installation of a new noise-reducing wall.
- Extending existing backyard fences to the new noise-reducing wall.
- Restoration of the area and other minor related work.
Upcoming East Brampton Pumping Station work
Phase 1 of the East Brampton Pumping Station and Reservoir upgrades started in March 2023 and is progressing well. Work that has been completed includes:
- A new electrical substation expansion, switchgear, transformers, and other equipment.
- A new electrical room expansion with new equipment, including motor starters, a control panel, switchgear, and HVAC equipment.
Current work includes:
- New equipment installations and upgrades, including HVAC equipment, lighting panel wiring and generator.
- Finalizing wiring and cable connections between electrical equipment.
- Startup, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and systems to support pumping station operations.
Reducing the impact of construction
We know construction can be disruptive, so we’re taking steps to make things smoother for everyone:
- The watermain will mainly be installed by tunnelling to avoid digging large ditches along Dixie Road. The traffic impact will be limited to shaft compounds, which we’ve worked to move off the road as much as possible.
- We don’t expect to have to shut off your water, but if we must because of an emergency, we will do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
- Much of the work for the noise wall installation is focused on the boulevard, with minimal impact on traffic.
- We anticipate completing the noise wall installation from Hazelwood Drive to Williams Parkway by the end of September 2025.
- The noise wall installation from Williams Parkway to Bovaird is expected to be completed by December 2025.
- We will let you know if there are any significant changes to our project.
Safety
- We regularly inspect our construction sites and monitor the surrounding areas. However, your involvement as neighbours is invaluable. If you have any comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out through our webpage or email. Together, we can maintain a safer environment for everyone.
When construction is expected to be completed
- The watermain portion of the project is expected to be completed in mid-2027.
- The noise walls on the west site between Hazelwood Drive to Williams Parkway are expected to be completed by September 2025.
- The current construction work for East Brampton Pumping Station Upgrades is expected to be completed in the Fall, 2025.
- The work in the Dixie Road Area is anticipated to be completed in 5-6 years. This includes the watermain construction, installing noise walls, widening the road, and completing the multi-use trails.

Did you know?
Peel is growing, and we want to ensure our community remains a great place to live, work and play.

Peel’s Flow | Central Brampton program will provide essential water and wastewater infrastructure for our communities now and in the future, and the East Brampton Watermain Project is part of this essential program.
As part of the Flow Program, this project is one of many capital investments underway to deliver the infrastructure needed to support Ontario’s plan to build 1.5 million new homes over the next decade, including 113,000 in Brampton.
In response, Peel Council has projected over $1 billion in capital investments to support these services. Flow | Central Brampton will meet these demands by combining more than 30 water and wastewater projects into one large-scale construction program across Brampton. This approach allows for efficient project management, resourcing, and decision-making to help speed up the completion of work and support sustainable community growth. Learn more at The Flow Program.
