Project 14-1240 – Jan. 24, 2025 update
Streets affected: Dixie Road from Crescent Hill Drive North to Howden Boulevard and Dixie Road from Hillside Drive to Queen Street East
Peel Region is continuing work in your neighbourhood to replace the watermain along Dixie Road. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water services.
We have been implementing long-term temporary lane reductions. We will continue to update you as the lane reductions are modified based on the work happening.
Below are the upcoming traffic changes:
Traffic impacts
- Southbound Dixie Road will be reduced to a single lane from Crescent Hill Drive North to Howden Boulevard from February 5, 2025, until September 2025.
- Southbound Dixie Road will be reduced to two through lanes from Hillside Drive to Queen Street East from February 10, 2025, until September 2025. During this time, the southbound right turn from Dixie Road to Queen Street East will be closed. The two northbound left hand turn lanes from Dixie Road to Queen Street East will be unaffected.
Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible. Below you can find images illustrating the expected traffic changes.
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
Pedestrian impacts
- Dixie Road sidewalks will be locally closed on the west side. Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk on the east side or the sidewalk along Lord Simcoe Drive as an alternative.
- Pedestrian crossings at Dixie Road and Queen Street will be unaffected.
- Pedestrian crossing at Dixie Road and Howden Boulevard will be unaffected.

Safety during construction

When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
