Project 14-1240 – Jan. 16, 2025 update
Streets affected: Dixie Road from North Park Drive to Lascelles Boulevard
Peel Region is continuing work in your neighbourhood to replace the watermain along Dixie Road. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water services.
We have been implementing long-term temporary lane reductions. We will continue to update you as the lane reductions are modified based on the work happening.
Below are the upcoming traffic changes:
Traffic impacts
- Northbound and southbound Dixie Road will be reduced to a single lane between North Park Drive and Lascelles Boulevard.
- Temporary traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of Dixie Road and Northampton Street/Mansion Street to facilitate the lane reductions and lane shifts.
- Since last week, Dixie Road northbound and southbound at Williams Parkway has been switched to single lanes with temporary traffic signals.
Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.
Below you can find images illustrating the expected traffic changes.
Construction schedule
- Lane reductions and lanes shift south of Williams Parkway (Shaft 9) are expected to occur from January 20, 2025, until spring 2027.
- Lane reductions and lanes shift north of Williams Parkway (Shaft 10) are expected to occur from February 3, 2025, until spring 2026.
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
Pedestrian impacts
- Dixie Road sidewalks will be locally closed on the west side. Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk on the east side as an alternative.
- Pedestrian crossings at Dixie Road and Northampton Street/Mansion Street will be unaffected.
- Pedestrian crossing of Dixie Road on the north side of Williams Parkway will be closed both eastbound and westbound.

Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. To learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality tap water. If you have any questions, please contact us.
