Project 14-1240 – December 2025 update
Peel is growing, and we are committed to making sure our community remains a great place to live, work and play.
As part of Peel’s Flow I Central Brampton program, this project is one of the many major capital investments designed to deliver the infrastructure needed to support Ontario’s plan to build 1.5 million new homes over the next decade. This includes building 113,000 new homes in Brampton.
Work in progress:
- Installing new large-sized watermains along Dixie Road
- Improving the East Brampton Pumping Station on Nanport Drive and the Beckett Sproule Pumping Station on Heart Lake Road South
Upcoming work:
- Widening Dixie Road and adding multi-use trails
Watch our short video to see the construction we’re doing behind the shaft compounds.
Our team at work
At Peel Region, we have staff who are responsible for assessing our underground pipes. They complete reviews of our large diameter watermains and sewers using cameras, sounds and other technology to allow us to plan the maintenance and operation of these critical pieces of infrastructure. Their work helps make sure you have safe, clean drinking water every day.
Dixie Road lane closures
The north and southbound lane on Dixie Road is closed around our shaft compounds between:
- Williams Parkway and Lascelles Boulevard
- Northampton Street and North Park Drive.
This map shows where the watermain compounds are located.
Sidewalks and bus stops
Sidewalks on the west side of Dixie Road are either closed or will be closed during construction.
Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk on the east side of Dixie Road or other signed walking detours.
Bus stops may be closed or relocated where necessary. Information signage will be posted.
Temporary park closures
- Newcastle Park on Williams Parkway east of North Park Drive
- The parkette at Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard
We know that construction can be disruptive, so we’re taking steps to make things easier for everyone.
- Most of the watermains are being installed by tunnelling deep underground instead of digging in or near the road. This helps reduce noise, dust and traffic delays. Any lane impacts will be minimized and limited to small work areas, such as tunnel compounds. These compounds were carefully planned to be off the road wherever possible.
- We don’t expect to turn off your water during construction. If we turn off your water due to an emergency, we will do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Underground construction
- The tunnelling along Dixie Road from Clark Boulevard to south of Williams Parkway is continuing and is over 90% complete. Once tunnelling is completed, we will begin to install the watermains within the tunnels.
- Completing electrical work inside the East Brampton Pumping Station on Nanport Drive.

Traffic changes
Peel Regional Police may be present at the intersection of Williams Parkway and Dixie Road as we finalize traffic changes to the intersection.
At the East Brampton Pumping Station on Nanport Drive, our construction workers are:
- Removing contractor materials and cleaning up the site.
- Performing final grading, landscaping, seeding and sodding.
- Completed all underground tunnel shaft excavations.
- Finished tunnel construction north of Dixie Road and Williams Parkway.
- Installed noise walls on the west side between Hazelwood Drive to Bovaird Drive.
Grass seed has been laid in the areas affected by construction.
Completed sidewalk repairs.
- The watermain portion of this construction project is expected to be completed in mid-2027.
- The noise wall installation from Williams Parkway to Bovaird Drive is expected to be completed by December 2025.
- The East Brampton Pumping Station and Reservoir construction work is expected to be completed this Fall, 2025.
- The Beckett Sproule Pumping Station and Reservoir construction work is expected to be completed by mid-2029.
- The Dixie Road area construction work is anticipated to be completed in five to six years. This includes the watermain construction, noise walls, road widening, and completing the multi-use trails.
We regularly inspect our construction sites and the areas around them to make sure they’re safe. Your involvement as part of the community is invaluable.
