Project 12-1420
Street affected: Carlanne Court and Queensway West
Advance notice
Peel Region will be improving the watermains in your area within the next year, as shown on the attached map. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood.
Important note
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way and within easements.
- The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
- An easement is where Peel Region has legal access to enter your property to maintain and improve Peel’s infrastructure.
This work may impact part of your backyard (where an easement exists), and the area around the sidewalk. We recommend that you delay major landscaping or driveway paving until construction is completed.
Before construction begins
Before we start construction, you may notice several activities in your area:
- We’ll use spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations.
- We’ll take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction.
We expect these activities to happen between late May 2027 and late December 2027.
What to expect during construction
Refer to our short video to learn what to expect before, during, and after watermain construction. The video also answers common questions about:
- Why your water may be temporarily shut off.
- How traffic, parking, and waste collection may be affected.
- How driveways, roads, and sod (grass) are repaired.
Keeping you informed
We’re currently in the early planning stages, so we cannot give exact dates. As your city’s future planning activities may change, we may also update our plans to improve watermains. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start of construction.
