Project 10-1210 C3 – October 19, 2026 update
Street affected: Heart Lake Road
Connecting to municipal water supply
As part of the watermain construction in your neighbourhood, it will be possible to connect your property to the municipal water supply. Peel Region has installed water service pipes that carry water to your property from the watermain under your street. They have been installed up to the property line of existing homes and businesses facing Heart Lake Road from Old School Road to King Street.
Larger services may be provided to industrial, commercial, institutional and agricultural properties, in conjunction with a planning application.
Interested homeowners and business owners are responsible for all costs associated with the work on private property, including permit fees and future water use costs.
- For a list of fees is available, visit water or wastewater service connection.
- Current water rates are available on the water billing page.
Construction schedule
Construction of the local watermain and services up to the property line was completed in the summer of 2026 and is available for properties to connect to Peel’s drinking water system at any time. This is your choice.
How to connect your property to the municipal water supply
- Visit drinking water distribution for instructions on connecting your property to the municipal water supply.
- Call Peel’s Connection Department at 905‐791‐7800, extension 7973 for approvals.
- Contact your municipality to obtain a private side plumbing permit:
- Town of Caledon: Email buildingpermits@caledon.ca or call 905-584-2272, ext. 2233
- Arrange with a licensed plumber to complete the service connection to your home or business.
- Have a private-side inspection done by the Town of Caledon.
- Contact Peel’s Metering Department at 905-791-7800 extension 3226 to have a water meter installed.
Closing your private wells
If you have an unused or old private well, we strongly recommend you retire it after connecting to the municipal water supply, as outlined in the Ontario Wells Regulation 903. Peel offers a Private Well Abandonment Program to retire private wells at no cost to the resident. Visit the program’s page for more information.
To keep your private well for irrigation purposes, a qualified person must:
- Physically disconnect the well piping from the service connection supplying water to the building.
- Install an approved backflow prevention device and keep it in good working order.
- Contact your city or town about having the work inspected.
