Airport Road and Williams Parkway intersection improvements

    Construction details

This project is for improvements at the intersection of Airport Road and Williams Parkway in Brampton. The project limits extend 350m north and south of Williams Parkway on Airport Road and 250m west and east of Airport Road on Williams Parkway.

This work includes road widening, dual left turn lanes, streetscaping, active transportation facilities, storm sewers, illumination, and traffic signal enhancements.

    Construction schedule

Construction is set to begin in May 2025 and is anticipated to be finished in June 2026.

    Working hours

    • Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, and work may also be done on weekends and night hours.
    • Extended working hours may cause some inconvenience to the public, however, they will help to facilitate the completion of the project as quickly as possible.

    Traffic control

    • The project will be phased to minimize traffic disruption while maintaining a safe working environment as required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Traffic flows will be maintained during construction. However, due to the nature of the work, traffic lane reduction will be required.
    • Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
    • Please use caution when travelling through the work zone.

    Driveway access

    • We will maintain driveway access as much as possible, and if we need to block your driveway for a short time, you will be contacted to make arrangements.
    • We will make sure businesses have access at all times.

Roadway improvements are coming to the Airport Road and Williams Parkway intersection in the City of Brampton. This improvement project limit extends 350m to the north and south of Williams Parkway on Airport Road, and 250m to the west and east of Airport Road on Williams Parkway. Construction is set to begin in Spring 2025. These improvements will focus on road widening, streetscape upgrades, active transportation facilities, and traffic signal enhancements. Traffic on Airport Road and Williams Parkway will be maintained throughout construction and all businesses will remain accessible. Additional information will be provided prior to the construction period.

    Background

Peel Region and the City of Brampton have identified the need to improve the efficiency and growing traffic demand of the Airport Road and Williams Parkway intersection.

    Key improvements include:

    • Dual left turn lanes and bus bays on Airport Road and Williams Parkway
    • Combination of multi-use paths and sidewalks on Airport Road
    • Multi-use path on both sides of Williams Parkway
    • Improved cycling and pedestrian crossings at the intersection

    Project benefits

The planned improvements will ensure that the intersection of Airport Road and Williams Parkway is appropriately designed to accommodate growing traffic demand, make the street safer for all modes of transport to use and enjoy, and promote physical activity along the corridor through improved pathways and sidewalks.

    Mitigation measures

The construction contractor will work within the established noise and vibration limits for construction prescribed by Peel Region and the City of Brampton. Noise and dust will be regularly monitored. Any night work, if required, will be subject to the appropriate permitting procedure. Temporary bus stop locations will be provided during construction where required. The construction team may also conduct structural assessments on nearby buildings and residential properties where requested or required.
