Port Credit East Wastewater Servicing Optimization Strategy Class Environmental Assessment
Virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) No. 2 was held from May 18 to June 1, 2022. The PIC No. 2 materials were available for public comment via the Port Credit East project website.
PIC No. 2 presented the alternative sites and route alignments evaluated for the water and wastewater study components. Secondly, PIC No. 2 presented the selected preliminary preferred servicing strategies for the following study components:
- New Lakeshore Road Deep Trunk Sewer.
- New Lakeshore Road Sub-transmission Watermain.
- Rosemere, Elmwood, and Hiawatha Sewage Pumping Stations.
This PIC material will remain posted on the Port Credit East project website.
During the 2-week engagement period: residents within the study area received notice of PIC No. 2, the contact list (with 101 interested stakeholders) was notified, the PIC material was reviewed on the project website 420 times, and comments were received via email from interested stakeholders to support the Port Credit East evaluation process.
The following includes a summary of comments received:
- Interested stakeholders and residents signed-up to receive future project notices,
- A resident requested clarification regarding the proposed servicing strategy near the Rosemere SPS,
- A resident provided support for the preliminary preferred servicing strategies, and,
- A resident expressed interest in the hydraulic calculations to support a gravity servicing solution at Elmwood/Lakeshore.
This feedback was considered during the evaluation process to confirm the preferred servicing solution. The next step includes preliminary design concepts for the preferred solution which will be presented at the study’s next PIC, anticipated for late 2022. The Port Credit East study is being undertaken as a Schedule C Municipal Class EA and will ensure public feedback is accepted during the prescribed milestones.
