Notice of study completion – August 31, 2026
Background
Peel Region has completed the Bolton Water and Wastewater Capacity Improvements Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) study. This MCEA builds off a Feasibility Study completed in 2023 by the Region which outlined conceptual water and wastewater projects that service the additional development proposed within both the intensification and greenfield growth areas in the Community of Bolton. Additionally, the MCEA has completed a comprehensive evaluation of alternatives to develop optimal water and wastewater servicing solutions to meet existing needs and growth within the Bolton study area.
Your input is important
You are invited to review the draft Environmental Study Report (ESR) for the Bolton Water and Wastewater Servicing Optimization Strategy, to provide the project team with feedback and comments. This ESR documents the planning process undertaken, potential impacts and mitigation measures, and the following recommendations (Figure 1):
- New sanitary pumping station,
- New sanitary twin forcemains along Emil Kolb Parkway,
- New sewer and watermains along Emil Kolb Parkway, Mount Hope Road and Highway 50,
- New watermain along Columbia Way, and
- Water and wastewater system optimization measures, including pressure zone adjustments, new Bolton SPS forcemain, and continued inflow and infiltration reduction program and monitoring of system performance.
Subject to comments received following this Notice and the receipt of approvals, the Region intends to proceed with construction of the recommended project as outlined in the ESR.
Environmental Study Report
The ESR will be available for a 30-day public review period from August 31 to September 30, 2026. An electronic copy of the ESR will be available for public review on the project website.
