    Water and wastewater workshops and tours

    Peel Region’s water and wastewater workshops and tours are approved by Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel District School Board.

    The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) lists Peel Region as an approved Program Provider.

    Peel Region does not require further approval from the Peel District School Board (PDSB). As a government-operated program, we are exempt from contract and insurance requirements and maintain our own liability coverage, as outlined in Program/Policy Memorandum 170.

    In-person workshops

    Our in-person workshops for the 2025-2026 school year are open for registration.

    Grade 2 and Grade 8

    During these 60-minute, engaging and presentations, Peel Region educators will use interactive discussions and activities to teach students:

    • Where our drinking water comes from.
    • How water and wastewater are treated at our treatment facilities.
    • Actions they can take to save and protect water.

    Grade 5

    These workshops are available for booking, but can only be scheduled starting in January 2026.

    During this 60-minute engaging and relevant presentation, Peel educators use interactive discussions and activities to teach students:

    • The process of cleaning wastewater through the water resource recovery facilities.
    • How the treatment process helps generate energy and support environmental sustainability.
    • Actions they can take to save and protect water.

    Information before you book

    • Workshops are available on Mondays (starting January 2026), Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • Workshops are delivered in-person at your school; one class per workshop.
    • Each school must register at least 3 classes, up to a maximum of 6 classes, per day.
    • Workshops are intended for Grade 2, Grade 5 (starting January 2026), and Grade 8 classes. When booking for a split class, indicate this in the comments section of the booking form.
    • After booking your session, you will receive a confirmation email.

    In-person facility tours

    Facility tours for the 2025-2026 school year is now opened for registration.

    Grades 8 to 12

    Discover how our water is treated through a unique tour of Peel's water treatment and water resource recovery facilities. Students will learn:

    • The different stages of water and wastewater treatment in Peel.
    • The steps taken to ensure the safety and quality of Peel’s drinking water.
    • The journey of wastewater after it leaves our homes.
    • Items that should never go down the drain.

    Information before you book:

    • Tours are available on Tuesdays (starting January 2026), Wednesdays and Fridays.
    • Tours are delivered in-person at our water treatment and water resource recovery facilities located in Mississauga; one class per tour.
    • While the tour is free, schools are responsible for arranging and paying for their transportation. A school bus is required for the tour of the facilities.
    • After booking your session, you will receive a confirmation email.
