Environmental Education Online Resources Contest Rules

    1. CONTEST SPONSOR

The sponsor of the Contest is The Regional Municipality of Peel (the “Sponsor”). The Contest will be administered by the Sponsor.

    2. CONTEST PERIOD

The Environmental Education Online Resources Contest (“Contest”) will run from 12:00:01 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, to 11:59:59 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 (“Contest Period”). All times are Eastern Standard Time. The Sponsor’s clock is the time keeping device for this Contest.

    3. ELIGIBILITY

No purchase or payment is necessary. The Contest is open to any person who teaches at the elementary and/or high school levels in the region of Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon). They must be at the time of entry 18 years of age or older.

    4. HOW TO PARTICIPATE

There are two ways to enter the Contest:

      1. Visit peelregion.ca/business/teachers-educators and use one of the following environmental education online resources: Peel Water Story, Water Treatment Plant Virtual Tour, Wastewater Treatment Plant Virtual Tour, or Waste Virtual Tours, complete the associated feedback survey, and submit an entry into the Contest by following the instructions provided, including providing the required contact information and answering a skill-testing question without any assistance or mechanical aid (“Entry”).
      2. Attend one of the following environmental education programs in person at your school or at Peel's water/wastewater facilities. Visit peelregion.ca/business/teachers-educators for program information. At the end of the program, complete the associated feedback survey, and submit an entry into the Contest by following the instructions provided, including providing the required contact information and answering a skill-testing question without any assistance or mechanical aid (“Entry”).

Entries must be received by the Sponsor during the Contest Period to be eligible in the Contest. Only one Entry per person is permitted. Any participant who submits, or attempts to submit, more Entries than permitted under these Rules may be disqualified from the Contest in the Sponsor’s sole discretion.

    5. PRIZES

There are four prizes available to be won with a limit of one prize per person as follows: four prizes with a value of $25.00 (each a “Prize”). There will be 2 Prizes for teachers who complete the Sponsor’s in person programs and survey, and 2 Prizes for teachers who complete the program virtually and the on-line survey. Each Prize consists of a gift card selected by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. At the Sponsor’s sole discretion, gift cards may be physical or electronic. Each Prize may be a different gift card than the other Prizes. Each gift card will be subject to the terms and conditions of the gift card issuer.

Each Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, assignable, or convertible to cash, except as may be permitted by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute any or all Prizes with an item or items of equal or greater value, including, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, a cash award. If a Prize is not claimed, it will be forfeited. Some or all Prizes may not be awarded if there are not enough eligible Entries. If a Prize cannot be awarded in accordance with these Rules, such Prize will not be awarded.

All 4 winners will be eligible to receive rulers and pencils for their students.

    6. ODDS AND WINNER SELECTION

The odds of winning a Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with these Rules.

On or about Monday, June 22, 2026, four eligible Entries will be selected by random draw. 2 from the in-person Entries and 2 from the on-line Entries. For clarity, if an Entry is drawn, it will be removed from the pool of Entries for subsequent draws and will not be eligible to be drawn again.

    7. PRIZE WINNER CONFIRMATION PROCESS

Following the random draw set out in section 7 above, the Sponsor will attempt to contact the entrants whose Entries were drawn (each such entrant referred to as a “Potential Winner”). The Sponsor will attempt to contact each Potential Winner by e-mail using the e-mail address provided as part of the Entry. If the Sponsor is unable to contact a Potential Winner by such e-mail address (for example, the Sponsor receives a message indicating the e-mail is undeliverable), the Sponsor will make two more attempts to contact such Potential Winner. If after such additional attempts, the Sponsor is unable to contact a Potential Winner, or a Potential Winner does not respond to the e-mail within 10 days after the e-mail is sent, such Potential Winner may be disqualified at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, and the Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, conduct a random draw to select a replacement Entry, and in such event, the terms set out in this section will apply to such newly selected Entry as if that Entry was drawn in the place of the disqualified Entry.

If a Potential Winner cannot accept, or is unwilling to accept, the Prize as awarded for any reason, and/or is determined to be in violation of these Rules, all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, he or she may, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion, be disqualified (and if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to the Prize), and the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate Potential Winner for the Prize in accordance with the terms set out in these Rules, in which case the foregoing provisions of this section will apply to such newly selected Potential Winner.

A Potential Winner is confirmed as a Prize winner upon receipt of the Prize by such Potential Winner.

    8. VERIFICATION OF ENTRIES

All Entries are subject to verification at any time and for any reason. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to require proof of identity and eligibility in a form acceptable to the Sponsor, including government-issued photo identification (1) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in the Contest, (2) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Entry, and/or (3) for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole discretion, for the purpose of administering the Contest in accordance with these Rules. Failure to provide such proof to the satisfaction of the Sponsor in a timely manner may result in disqualification in the Sponsor’s sole discretion.

    9. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, SO 2001, c 25, Section 11 and will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Contest. Questions regarding this collection may be referred to: Staff, Environmental Education, 2 Copper Rd, Brampton, Ontario, L6T 4W5. Phone number: 905-791-7800 extension 8611.

By entering the Contest, each participant expressly consents to the Sponsor using the personal information submitted with their entry for the purpose of administering the Contest. The handling of all personal information by the Sponsor is governed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, RSO 1990, c M.56. For more information regarding personal information collected by the Sponsor, visit peelregion.ca/privacy.

    10. GENERAL

The Contest is subject to all applicable laws, by-laws, and regulations. The Contest and the interpretation of these Rules are governed by the laws of Canada and Ontario. The Sponsor’s decisions with respect to all aspects of the Contest are final and binding on all participants without right of appeal. Anyone determined to be in violation of these Rules for any reason is subject to disqualification in the Sponsor’s sole discretion at any time.

The Sponsor will not be liable for the failure of any Entry and/or other information to be received, captured, or recorded. An attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages as permitted by law.

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, amend, or suspend the Contest, or to amend these Rules, without prior notice for any reason.

By participating in the Contest, each participant automatically accepts these Rules and automatically releases the Sponsor and its employees, contractors, interns, Councillors, and Chair, and all entities and persons involved in the development, production, implementation, administration, judging, and/or fulfillment of the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns from any liability arising in connection with or related to the Contest.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between these Rules and other materials, disclosures, or statements (including Contest-related advertisements), the terms of these Rules will prevail.
