Gary Kent, Chief Administrative Officer
Gary Kent is the Chief Administrative Officer of Peel Region, Ontario, Canada, which proudly delivers essential services and infrastructure to 1.6 million residents and over 200,000 businesses in the communities of Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga.
Reporting directly to Regional Council, the CAO is Peel Region's most senior position. As CAO, Gary oversees all infrastructure investments, service delivery, and staff.
A graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, Gary is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA), and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He holds the ICD.D designation from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and has completed the Bloomberg-Harvard Cities Leadership course, which brings Mayors and senior staff from across the globe to learn together.
With over 30 years of experience in progressively senior municipal roles, including serving as CFO for both Peel and the City of Mississauga, Gary has had many achievements in the municipal sector and is very present in all discussions during these turbulent times.
Gary was recently appointed second VP for the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA), having served as Treasurer and sits on the Council of the largest global accounting body (ACCA).
