Championing women in non-traditional roles
Daniella is a Water and Wastewater Operator at Peel Region, and her journey is nothing short of remarkable.
A few months ago, Daniella knew nothing about water tapping.
Now, she and her fellow female operators are representing Peel Region in the first-ever women’s tapping competition organized by the Ontario Water Works Association.
Daniella’s story highlights Peel’s inclusive culture. It also demonstrates the Water and Wastewater department’s supportive environment, which offers abundant and equal opportunities, empowers individuals to become leaders, and fosters encouragement and growth.
Daniella is proud of her work and is an inspiration to women and young girls who plan to pursue non-traditional careers.
By championing women in these positions, Daniella is also helping reshape the narrative around gender roles in the industry. Her success reminds us that with the right support and determination, personal achievement has no limits.
Being in the first-ever women’s tapping team in Peel is great because it puts on some awareness that women can do this too, there’s no limitations.
