Rohan Thompson appointed Program Director, Culture & Inclusion at Peel Region

BRAMPTON, ON (Aug. 17, 2026) - Peel Region is pleased to welcome Rohan Thompson as its new Program Director, Culture & Inclusion, effective August 20, 2026.

In this role, Thompson will provide strategic leadership for Peel’s Culture and Inclusion portfolio, supporting the organization’s READI approach to reconciliation, equity, accessibility, diversity and inclusion while helping advance a culturally responsive workplace and community under the Our People priority in Peel’s Strategic Agenda.

Thompson brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience across municipal government, education and community service organizations. His career has focused on equity, diversity and inclusion, anti-racism, organizational transformation and people-centred leadership.

Most recently, Thompson served as Director of People and Equity with the County of Dufferin, where he led enterprise-wide initiatives focused on organizational culture, equity strategy, talent management, employee well-being, leadership development and change management. During his tenure, he developed the County’s first data-informed Equity Strategy, advanced human rights and workplace respect initiatives, and worked with senior leadership, Council and community partners to strengthen inclusion across the organization.

Previously, Thompson held senior leadership roles with the Peel District School Board, including Assistant Director, Equity and Community Partnerships, and Manager, Workplace Equity. In these roles, he advanced system-wide equity and anti-racism strategies, strengthened relationships with diverse communities and supported transformational change across one of Canada’s largest school boards.

Thompson holds a Master of Social Work and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has also contributed to community service and initiatives focused on equity, inclusion and community engagement.
