Region of Peel Receives International Award for Outstanding Procurement Practices for 4th Consecutive Term
BRAMPTON, ON (Apr. 19, 2018) – For the 4th consecutive term, the Region of Peel has received the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award by the National Institute for Governmental Procurement (NIGP). With each accreditation term lasting three years, the Region of Peel has remained accredited for 12 consecutive years. The Region is one of only three public procurement agencies in Canada and one of only 65 in all of North America that are currently accredited. The Region received this award for being a leader in the public procurement profession by implementing best practices such as, continuous improvement initiatives, training and outreach for staff and vendors and, leveraging technology to create efficiencies.
“Our procurement team has been employing best practices in their daily operations for over 12 years and we are proud to receive this award for the 4th consecutive term,” said Stephen VanOfwegen, Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. “This award is a reflection of our commitment to leadership in the public procurement profession. I would like to thank the NIGP for their recognition. We look forward to continuing to focus on openness, transparency, and integrity in our procurement practices, while using modern technologies to enable a greater level of excellence in public procurement.”
The NIGP accreditation programs formally recognizes excellence in public procurement practice by assessing agencies against a body of standards, elevating the standards of practice for the procurement profession.
