Peel Region receives a Canada’s Clean50 Top Project Award for Guiding Existing Buildings to Net Zero Emissions
BRAMPTON, ON (October 28, 2025) - Peel Region has been recognized with a 2026 Canada’s Clean50 Top Project Award https://www.clean50.com for the initiative, Guiding Existing Buildings to Net Zero Emissions. The award celebrates Peel’s leadership in advancing sustainability and accelerating Canada’s transition to a low-carbon future, driven by the innovative Net Zero Emissions (NZE) Building Retrofit (BR) Standard.
Peel’s Net Zero Emissions Building Retrofit Standard provides a practical roadmap to decarbonize existing regional buildings. It is a first-of-its-kind framework developed to help retrofit buildings in a streamlined, efficient way that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves energy performance and gets Peel closer to its GHG emissions reduction target with every retrofit.
