Homeless encampments response team receives CAO’s Award for Excellence
BRAMPTON, ON (June 11, 2026) – Today, in Regional Council, Peel Region proudly recognized the outstanding contributions of 86 employees through its Peel Celebrates Employee Awards program. These awards honour the innovation, leadership, and dedication of employees who are making an impact across the organization and Peel community.
Among this year’s recipients, the Coordinated Homeless Encampments Response Team received the CAO’s Award for Excellence for their compassionate, coordinated and respectful approach to responding to people living in encampments. Working together with people with lived experience, local municipalities, police services and community partners, the team connected encampment residents to housing and emergency shelters, helping them move toward more stable, long-term housing.
