Game ready: Peel Region prepared to support a safe and seamless FIFA World Cup experience

Body

BRAMPTON, ON (Jun. 10, 2026) – Peel Region is welcoming residents and visitors for the FIFA World Cup from June 11 to July 19 and is ready to support a safe and enjoyable experience.

Many international visitors will be arriving through Toronto’s Pearson Airport in Mississauga. Peel Region is working closely with local municipalities, Peel Regional Police, and health system partners to co-ordinate planning, response and information-sharing efforts.

Peel Regional Paramedic Services will staff additional ambulances in anticipation of potential increases in call volume. This work is supported by Peel Region’s Future Disruption Readiness Strategy, which strengthens Peel’s ability to anticipate and respond to emergencies while maintaining essential services and protecting community well-being.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to take simple steps to protect their health and safety:

  • Check heat and air quality conditions for your area on the WeatherCAN app and adjust outdoor activities as needed.
  • In hot weather, wear a wide-brimmed hat, UV-protective sunglasses, lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, and don’t forget to stay hydrated.
  • Be mindful of food safety when attending viewing events and celebrations. Peel Public Health is aware of official special events and is providing food safety education to operators and will inspect events as needed.
  • Clean your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Plan ahead for increased crowds and traffic, especially around public viewing events, such as Canada Day celebrations and the Canada Celebrates tour stops in Mississauga on July 1 and in Brampton on July 18 and 19.

Peel Region will continue to share timely updates throughout the tournament on Facebook and Instagram.

The beautiful game is coming to Peel Region and I could not be more excited to welcome the world. This is an exciting time for our communities, and Peel will be there every step of the way to help ensure residents and visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience during the World Cup.
