2026 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation service hours at Peel Region

BRAMPTON, Ont. (September 23, 2026) – Peel Region offices and non-emergency services will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The following non-emergency services will reopen on Thursday, October 1:

• Service Peel counters
• ServiceOntario counter
• Dental Services Contact Centre and Dental Clinics
• Healthy Sexuality Clinics (refer to Healthy Sexuality Clinics for up-to-date hours)
• Family Health Call Centre
• Immunization Call Centre
• Baby Feeding Support Clinics
• Adult Day Services (in-person andvirtual)
• Early Years and Child Care Services, including Child Care Subsidy
• Housing Services
• Ontario Works
• Peel Works Harm Reduction – Mobile Vans
• Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA)

Waste collection

There will be no changes to curbside garbage, organics, or yard waste pickup. Check your collection calendar to find your pickup day or sign up to receive free waste collection reminders.

Community Recycling Centres

All Community Recycling Centres will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, and will reopen on Thursday, October 1.

Emergency shelter and homeless supports

Emergency shelters and the Street Helpline remain open during the holiday. Call the emergency shelter intake line at 905-450-1996 if you need access to shelters. If you’re an asylum claimant in need of temporary housing and essential support services, call the Asylum Claimant Shelter Central Intake Line at 647-368-5880. Call the Street Helpline 24/7 at 1-877-848-8481 for urgent homelessness supports including food, supplies, and referrals.

TransHelp

All trips for Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 1, must be booked by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29.

On Wednesday, September 30 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation):

• Call us at 905-791-1015 if you need to cancel your trip.
• TransHelp will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.
• The TransHelp office will be closed. Feedback, application, and payment processing will resume on Thursday, October 1.
