Apply for housing services
We’ve updated our housing services application process to provide a more secure and accessible experience for residents.
Before you apply
If you are currently receiving financial help
If you’re receiving Ontario Works or have a pending Ontario Works application, contact your Ontario Works caseworker regarding help with, overdue rent or utility bills, or other housing-related financial needs.
We may be able to assist eligible applicants with services and assessment for the housing centralized wait list.
If you need ongoing help paying for food, clothing, or other essential needs, refer to financial help and Ontario Works for information about available supports.
If you’re interested in community housing
Review the eligibility requirements for the centralized wait list before starting your application.
You will be asked to provide documents as part of your application. Applicants who are interested in rent-geared-to-income housing subsidy will be assessed for eligibility as part of the application process. Depending on your circumstances and eligibility, the outcome of your application may include referral to other housing supports, addition to the centralized wait list, or both.
If you are currently working with a Housing Support Worker or Housing Representative
Contact them directly before submitting a new application. They can help determine the most appropriate next steps based on your current situation.
If you have unique circumstances or accessibility needs that prevent you from completing the online application, assistance is available by telephone.
Complete the housing application
To apply online, create or sign in to your Peel Region account. Through your Peel Region account, you can:
- Start a new housing application.
- Continue an application in progress.
- Edit an application that has not yet been processed.
- View your previously submitted applications.
The online application is available anytime and can be completed at your own pace. You can save your progress and return later through your Peel Region account.
Applying online is the fastest and most convenient way to access housing services.
Submitting your own application online allows you to provide information directly and may result in a quicker application experience than applying by telephone.

After you apply
If you have applied for community housing and indicated an interest in being added to the centralized wait list, your eligibility will be reviewed as part of the application process.
Once the review is complete, you will receive written confirmation advising whether you have been added to the centralized wait list or found ineligible.
Wait times
Some housing applications may take up to 10 months to review. Not all applications will take this long, as urgent situations may be prioritized.
Do not contact us to follow up on your application unless there has been a significant or urgent change in your circumstances.
Do not submit more than one application for the same household, as duplicate applications may delay processing.
You do not need to pay to apply for housing
There is no cost when applying for housing support or submitting documents to Peel Region.
No one, including Peel Region staff or someone working for a community agency should ask you for money to apply for housing, or to receive an offer of housing. This is fraud and is illegal. Do not give cash, e-payments, or your credit card information when seeking housing support.
If you suspect fraud, contact Peel Region staff or the police. Reporting will not affect your application status or ability to receive housing support.
