Project 25-1340 F – October 1, 2026 update
Street affected: Church Street East
Notice of temporary restoration
As part of the Flow Central Brampton Program, Peel Region will be repairing driveways, curbs, sidewalks, and sod (grass), following the replacement of the watermain along Church Street East between Main Street and Ken Whillans Drive.
Temporary restoration schedule
Temporary restoration work is anticipated to start in October 2026 on Church Street East. We plan to complete all work by the end of 2026, weather permitting.
Temporary restoration will begin by fixing curbs and sidewalks, followed by driveway, and finally sod replacement.
Please note that repairs may be delayed due to contractor availability or weather conditions.
For example:
- We replace sod only until the middle of November, weather permitting, to let the sod grow roots. If we do not repair your lawn by the middle of November, we’ll replace the sod the following spring.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Pachino Construction Co. Ltd under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighborhood.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking will be reduced when we are working on your street.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Visit work zone safety for more information.
In-ground sprinkler systems
If the area in front of your home or business was affected by construction, in-ground sprinkler lines may be impacted during the upcoming restoration work. We strongly recommend moving any sprinkler lines in the municipal right-of-way or next to the sidewalk. The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
If you cannot move these sprinkler lines, send us your irrigation map or flag each sprinkler head within one meter of the sidewalk, curb, or driveway. This will allow us to minimize the impact to your sprinkler system.
Driveway access and parking
We may block your driveway for a short time to pave the road. We’ll ensure businesses can be accessed when possible. Contact us if you have any access needs.
Please avoid parking on your driveway when it is being repaired. We’ll knock on your door before driveway work begins. If you will not be home weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., do not leave any vehicles on the driveway. Avoid driving on new asphalt for the first three hours and parking on it for one day after paving.
Replacing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any damaged sod on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing driveways
- Interlock or concrete driveways: If we damage a portion of your driveway, our contractor will repair the damaged portion.
- Asphalt driveways: If we need to cut a section of your driveway, it will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams. Peel cannot replace your entire driveway.
Warranty on construction repairs
All work is warrantied for two years from the completion date.
It is normal for repaired areas to settle. Let us know if you notice large potholes forming where the driveway, street, or lawn was repaired, and we’ll ensure these are fixed before the warranty period ends. Once the warranty period is over, Peel is no longer responsible for fixing potholes or dead sod in these locations.
