Project 25-1340 A – April 22, 2026 update
Streets affected: Baker Road, Torbram Road and Summerlea Boulevard
Water interruption and water service pipe connection notice
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, the new watermain on Baker Road has been installed. Next, we will bring the watermain into service by transferring the water service pipe from the old watermain to the new one. We’ll start connecting water service pipes on Baker Road around April 22, 2026 and expect to be finished by May 2, 2026.
Water interruptions
To complete the connection, water will be turned off at various locations along Baker Road, Torbram Road and Summerlea Boulevard. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or other unexpected events, we’ll notify you of the new date and time.
Property owner/manager responsibilities during a water interruption include:
- Notify all tenants in the building of the upcoming water interruption. A poster is included for posting in highly visible areas (lobbies, mailrooms, and/or elevators) or for photocopying to provide to each unit.
- Ensure maintenance, mechanical or plumbing staff are on site during the interruption. The watermain interruption may affect internal systems that rely on water such as boilers, fire suppression, and alarms.
- Notifying the fire alarm company if the interruption could affect an alarm system.
- Conduct a fire watch during the water interruption. The building’s sprinkler protection system will not function when the water supply is shut off.
After the water interruption
When we turn the water back on, air in the pipes may make the water cloudy and your plumbing may vibrate or make noise. We recommend removing the air by slowly turning on your taps, starting with faucets in the lowest level of your building and working upwards—start by turning faucets on in the basement/first and finishing on the top floor. You’ll likely need to run the water for 10 to 30 seconds; until it runs clear and any vibration or noise has stopped.
Contractor nighttime working hours
The work will be completed by Sam Rabito Construction Ltd. under contract to Peel Region. They will be working in your area from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal by-laws.
Driveway access
We’ll knock on your door if we have to block your driveway for a short time. If a trench blocks your driveway access, the contractor will provide metal road plates. We will work to ensure businesses can be accessed. Contact us if you have any access needs
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
Repairing impacted areas
Once we have connected all properties on Baker Road to the new watermain, we will start repairing driveways, roads, curbs, sidewalks, and sod (grass) where impacted.
All work is warrantied for 2 years from the completion date.
