Project 25-1251 - April 30, 2026 update
Streets affected: Queen Street East from Centre Street to Dixie Road, Hansen Road North and Rutherford Road North from Queen Street East to Archdekin Drive
Advance notice and pre-design field investigation
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, Peel Region will be replacing the watermains and sanitary sewers in your area within the next two years, as shown on the attached map.
- Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your area.
- Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down a drain or toilet.
As pipes age and our population grows, we need to replace them to provide you with high-quality water and wastewater services.
Important note
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way. This includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. This work may impact the bottom of your driveway, parking lot entrance and the area around the sidewalk. We recommend that you delay major landscaping or driveway paving until construction is completed.
Before construction begins
Before we start construction, we will be in your area conducting field investigations along Queen Street East, from Centre Street to Dixie Road, and along Hansen Road North and Rutherford Road North, from Queen Street East to Archdekin Drive.
- We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations. The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road.
- We will take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
Activities along Queen Street East, from Centre Street to Dixie Road, are expected to be completed by Summer 2026. Activities along Hansen Road North and Rutherford Road North, from Queen Street East to Archdekin Drive, are expected to happen between May 2026 and December 2026.
Consultant working hours
The work will be completed by J.D. Barnes Limited and multiVIEW Locates Inc. under contract to Peel Region. Additional investigation consultants are still to be confirmed. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws.
Traffic impacts
There may be minor traffic disruptions during these activities. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions.
Keeping you informed
We’re currently in the early planning stages, so we cannot give exact dates. As your city’s future planning activities may change, we may also update our plans to install watermains. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start of construction.
