Project 24-1340 C1
Streets affected: Centre Street from Williams Parkway to Ardglen Drive, Church Street East from Centre Street North to the Etobicoke Creek and Newby Court Relining
Advance notice
As part of the Flow | Central Brampton Program, Peel Region will be replacing the watermain in your area within the next two years, as shown on the attached map. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood. As pipes age, we need to replace them to provide you with high-quality water.
Important note
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way. This includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We recommend that you delay major landscaping or driveway paving until construction is completed.
Before construction begins
Before construction starts:
- We’ll use spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations.
- We’ll take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction.
We expect these activities to happen between July 2026 and December 2026.
What to expect during construction
Refer to our short video to learn what to expect before, during, and after watermain construction. The video also answers common questions about:
- Why your water may be temporarily shut off.
- How traffic, parking, and waste collection may be affected.
- How driveways, roads, and sod (grass) are repaired.
Keeping you informed
We’re currently in the early planning stages, so we cannot give exact dates. As your city’s future planning activities may change, we may also update our plans to replace watermains. We’ll deliver more detailed information closer to the start of construction.
We understand construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure. This work both maintains and improves Peel’s world-class water systems, allowing us to provide safe drinking water to support a thriving community for life.
